Star Trails

I had the opportunity to go to Nelson's Landing with my son's astronomy class Saturday night. There was still some light pollution from Vegas but you could still see so many more stars than you can in town. We saw Saturn through Dr. Batchelor's telescope. You could see the ring around it. Pretty amazing. I tried my hand at star trails. I also photographed the Milky Way. It was a lot of fun and I hope to get a chance to go again. I would like to try using a film camera for the star trails.

Highland Games

The Highland Games and Celtic Festival at Tule Springs was definitely a cultural experience. Men in skirts throwing rocks for fun. The sound of bagpipes echoing across the park. Guinness on tap. Great fun all around.

Rat City Rukkus

Rat City Rukkus was awesome, so much fun. Cool cars, cool people. What's better than that?

Wild in Vegas

The Wild in Vegas shoot was fun. Started off with the breakfast club. Then we shot at the Springs Preserve where there was some very unusual wildlife to be found among the more native species. Finally it was lunch with the whole crew (missed you Christina). Can't beat that. What a great group this class is. You guys all rock!

Art in Vegas

I love the Las Vegas Document class. I have so much fun with the ADD group. You guys are awesome! Welcome to our newest member, Brandon, who kept me from straggling too far behind.
Looking at the photos I took, it seems that light was my focus that day.

Adventures in the hills of West Virginia.

If your house is built hanging over a creek, tilted up on some kind a stilts you might be a redneck. And you might be a crazy photographer if you are hanging out your car window taking a picture of this awesome abode, while the inhabitants are giving you the universal sign of art appreciation.

High as a kite...

LV Doc's theme this week was Vegas up high. We went to the Stratosphere. I, unfortunately, was late and missed the class photo. Oh well.... Christina was given a free ticket for a ride and was brave enough to go. Better her than me. :)

I hadn't been to the Bellagio in years. After shooting there for class, I think I will check it out much more frequently. The atrium had a Chinese New Year theme that was great to photograph. I really want to go back there with my macro lens to take pictures of the flowers and maybe play with my new Lensbaby

Vegas Love

The LV Doc theme this week was love Las Vegas style. I had a great time shooting for this. Wednesday during the class shoot I and the rest of the attentionally challenged crew photgraphed Las Vegas Boulevard and the Bellagio.

On Saturday I was lucky enough to be able to take photographs and torture my sons. It just doesn't get any better than that. In the afternoon I went with my oldest son and his girlfriend to Bad Attitude. I think that instead of shooting things in the store I should have documented my son's embarrassment.

That evening I coerced my other son into going to Freemont Street with me. Craziness. Then there was the late night Albertson's adventure to photograph the coca-cola heart....
